Using anticlastic techniques to create ruffles in metal

I became obsessed with making ruffles: look at the photo to find out how many attempts I have made! (See also previous posts).

For some time I try to create ruffles in metal using anticlastic techniques following Michael Good's videos found on YouTube. Only the last two shapes seem to be in the right direction.   

I may not use this method for the production of jewelry, but I want to understand how it works. I said obsession – didn't I?
