Making S shaped clasps is easy and instructions are found in
many books. When I learned to make this type of clasp it was very important to
me that the result would be symmetrical and very precise. But during the years
I worked as a metalsmith learned I lacked the ability to be accurate at work
and I realized I had to focus on organic designs that do not require identical
components. Hence, each s shaped clasp I make is unique and no two are alike. Even
when I start exactly with the same raw materials, the resulting clasps are
different. Over the years I have learned to see it as an advantage and almost
forgot that I work in this way from a lack of choice and not by choice.
