My friend Malka did it again (see earlier post)! She wore this Yemen style neck piece to a Tai chi practice. Although bought at an antique market she isn’t sure if it is authentic.
Handmade Yemen jewelry adorned with turquoise, carnelian and lapis beads used to be very popular in Israel during the fifties, sixties and seventies and then it gradually disappeared. Lately ethnic accessories became quite popular so the Yemen style jewelry seems to have made a comeback as well.
