The bowl in the following
photos was found in Megiddo,
Israel. It dates back to the 15th century BC, it is made of gold and its diameter
is 10 cm. It is on display at the Archaeology Wing of the
Israel Museum in Jerusalem. The
caption described it as a "Conch - shaped bowl" but
to my understanding the correct description should be "Shell – like bowl".
I found it to be a beautiful example of
synclastic forming and I wonder which tools the ancient metalsmith used to
produce this bowl 3,500 years ago!
